Gift-giving is a skill I’ve always praised myself on: the trick of listening, picking up on clues of desire, and archiving them in order to turn them into a present that says I’ve paid attention. I appreciate you and the things you care about. In turn, gift-receiving is a less-admired skill in our society, I feel, though one that is just as important and that I’m also very good at ;)
